How to Convert HEIC to JPG Online

HEIC is the photo format iPhone and iPad use by default since iOS 11. It saves storage space, but Windows, Android phones, older photo editors, Word documents and most websites still cannot open it. Our free converter turns a HEIC or HEIF photo into a universal JPG file that opens everywhere — right in the browser, with no app to install.

How It Works

  1. Upload the HEIC photo — drag and drop it or tap to pick a file from your phone. Files up to 50 MB are supported.
  2. Choose the JPG quality: 80% for a smaller file, 90% for the everyday balance, 100% when you plan to edit or print the photo.
  3. Tap Convert — the photo is decoded on the server and the result appears below in a few seconds.
  4. Download the JPG file — it opens on Windows, Android, in Word, in any messenger and on any website.

Why Convert HEIC to JPG

Opens on Windows and Android

A HEIC photo sent from an iPhone often refuses to open on a Windows PC or an Android phone. JPG opens everywhere without extra codecs.

Accepted by websites and forms

Government portals, job boards, marketplaces and school portals normally accept JPG or PNG only — HEIC uploads get rejected.

Works in editors and documents

Word, PowerPoint, older versions of Photoshop and most print services still expect JPG. Convert once and forget about compatibility.

EXIF data is preserved

Shooting date, camera model and other EXIF tags are copied into the JPG, so your photo archive keeps its chronology. Geotags are copied too — remove them before publishing if privacy matters.

What Is a HEIC File

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) stores a photo encoded with the HEVC codec. At the same visual quality it takes roughly half the space of JPG, which is why Apple made it the default for the iPhone camera. The trade-off is compatibility: outside the Apple ecosystem support is still patchy, and a photo that looks fine on the phone becomes an unopenable file the moment you send it to a colleague on Windows. Converting to JPG makes the photo slightly larger but universally readable.

Convert HEIC on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac

The converter runs on our server, so the device you use does not matter: it works the same in Safari on an iPhone, in Chrome on Android, on a Windows laptop and on a Mac. You do not need the Files app, iTunes, a codec pack from the Microsoft Store or any desktop software — upload the photo and download the JPG. If you want to stop dealing with HEIC altogether, open Settings → Camera → Formats on the iPhone and choose Most Compatible: new photos will be shot straight to JPEG.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert HEIC to JPG for free?

Upload the HEIC photo on this page, pick a quality and tap Convert. No registration and no software installation are needed.

Does converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?

JPG is a lossy format, so a tiny loss is unavoidable. At 90% quality it is invisible to the eye, and at 100% the difference from the original is practically undetectable.

Why will my HEIC photo not open on Windows?

Windows needs a separate HEVC codec pack to display HEIC, and it is not installed by default. Converting the photo to JPG solves the problem once and for all.

Are my photos stored on the server?

The uploaded photo and the result are kept temporarily so you can download the file, and are then deleted automatically. You can also delete any result yourself right from the card.

Can I convert a Live Photo?

Yes. A Live Photo is a HEIC still plus a short video; the converter takes the still frame and turns it into a JPG.
